Teresa Salgueiro, the voice of Madredeus, the figure that easily we learn to love and to divinize, recently participated in an interesting album of António Chainho, one of the great masters of the Portuguese guitar, intitled "A Guitarra e outras mulheres" (" the Guitar and Other Women"), album that intends to renew the fado, presenting it with sounds never before tried. This project implemented by Chainho will be certainly beneficial for the fado, and in the truth already it is to be, if we look at the highly favorable critics that it has received and for the great success that it has obtained. Teresa Salgueiro participated in this innovative project, contributing with all her brilliance for the enrichment of this work of Chainho. Teresa interprets two of the twelve songs that compose "A Guitarra e outras Mulheres". And what to say of these two shining interpretations? A sea of words would not arrive to describe all the things we can feel when we listen to the blessed and skillful voice of Teresa to sing "A Sombra (Fado Nocturno) " and "Fado da Boa Sina". Her voice of an unrepeatable transparency, is capable of carrying us far away, making us to cross the day and the night between two melodies. " Fado da Boa Sina " is as a sunny day, a day full of light and clarity, capable of giving us joy, capable of making us to fly. It is as the look of an happy child. In " A Sombra (Fado Nocturno)" Teresa sings the night, evokes the homesickness, the sadness, making us feel the other side of life, the side that many people try to ignore, deceiving themselves, as if the path for the happiness, the path for the paradise, can be conquered through the refusal of the sadness, the homesickness, nostalgia, the night, the shade.
In a glance, this sacred soul called Teresa Salgueiro, this voice of the sea and the land, of the joy and the sadness, of the day and the night, makes us unmask the hidden places of life, making the meeting between the heart and the soul possible, a close meeting commanded by the emotions. When singing "A Sombra (Fado Nocturno)" and "Fado de Boa Sina", both the songs with lyrics by Rui Machado and music by António Chainho, Teresa points us the path of the fado, make us discover with her melodic voice the certain route of the uncertain, leads us through the labyrinth of our emotions, with the simplicity that always accustomed her and that is clear in all the projects where she participates. She is the only ne who is able to do that, Teresa Salgueiro, Maria Teresa Salgueiro, the voice of the Madredeus, of the fado, of Portugal, of the World... the voice that search for us and talks to our heart. Teresa Salgueiro, a voz dos Madredeus, a figura que facilmente aprendemos a amar e a divinizar, participou recentemente num interessantíssimo álbum de António Chainho, um dos grandes mestres da guitarra portuguesa, intitulado «A Guitarra e Outras Mulheres», álbum que pretende renovar o fado, apresentando-o com sonoridades nunca antes experimentadas. Será certamente benéfico para o fado este projecto implementado por Chainho, na verdade já o está a ser, a julgar pelas críticas altamente favoráveis que tem recebido e pela grande receptividade que tem alcançado junto do público.
Como já foi referido, Teresa Salgueiro participou neste projecto inovador, contribuindo com todo o seu brilhantismo para o enriquecimento deste trabalho de Chainho. Teresa interpreta dois dos doze temas que compõem «A Guitarra e Outras Mulheres». E que dizer destas duas brilhantes interpretações? Um mar de palavras não chegaria para descrever tudo o que se pode sentir quando se escuta a voz abençoada e magistral de Teresa entoar «A Sombra (Fado Nocturno)» e «Fado da Boa Sina». A sua voz de uma transparência irrepetível, é capaz de nos transportar para longe, para bem longe, fazendo-nos atravessar entre duas melodias o dia e a noite.
«Fado da Boa Sina» é como um dia de sol, um dia pleno de luz e claridade, capaz de nos alegrar, capaz de nos fazer voar, capaz de nos fazer navegar as areias do deserto. É como o olhar de uma criança feliz. Em «A Sombra (Fado Nocturno)» Teresa canta a noite, evoca a saudade, a tristeza, fazendo-nos sentir o outro lado da vida, o lado que muitos tentam ignorar, enganando-se a si próprios, como se o caminho para a felicidade, o caminho para o paraíso, fosse conquistado pela recusa da tristeza, da saudade, da nostalgia, da noite, da sombra.
Num relance, esta alma sagrada chamada Teresa Salgueiro, esta voz do mar e da terra, da alegria e da tristeza, do dia e da noite, faz-nos desvendar os recantos da vida, possibilitando-nos o encontro entre o coração e a alma, uma reunião íntima comandada pelas emoções.
Ao cantar «A Sombra (Fado Nocturno)» e «Fado da Boa Sina», ambos os temas com letra de Rui Machado e música de António Chainho, Teresa aponta-nos o caminho do fado, faz-nos descobrir com a sua voz melodiosa o rumo certo do incerto, conduz-nos através do labirinto das nossas emoções, com a simplicidade que sempre nos habituou e que transparece em todos os projectos em que participa.
