The World of Madredeus

The fascination of the portuguese group is subtle and enchanting. A musical kaleidoscope at the border of etnical music, new age and musical tradition of Portugal. The fado of the 2000, as many people have labelled the fascinating music of the group composed by the sweet voice of Teresa Salgueiro, by the guitarists Pedro Ayres Magalhães and José Peixoto, by carlos Maria Trindade at the sinthesyzer and by Fernando Júdice at the bass guitar, find its fashion on the melancholic and solitary load of its ballads. Madredeus is the faithful keeper of a way of singing, the saudade, cultural movement of the start of this century (the best known exponent is Pessoa) which represents a phylosophy of life: the sadness of the soul which is though lived in a serene way and helps us to sustain the pain of love. An illusion which has been the inspiring muse for this portuguese group. And Teresa is the heir of the traditional black shawl which characterize all the great interpreters of fado (first of all Maria Severa and Amália Rodrigues), symbolic shawl which is a symbol of sadness, of humbleness, of poverty, but also an expression of a people of sailors, rich of cultural and musical contaminations. Il fascino del gruppo portoghese è sottile ed avvolgente. Un caleidoscopio musicale al confine tra la musica etnica, la new age e la cultura tradizionale lusitana. Il Fado del 2000, come in molti hanno definito l&146;ammaliante musica della compagine composta dalla carezzevole voce di Teresa Salgueiro, dai chitarristi Pedro Ayres Magalhaes e José Peixoto, da Carlos Maria Trindade al sintetizzatore e da Fernando Judice al basso, fonda il suo fascino sulla carica malinconica e solitaria delle sue ballate. Per capire ed apprezzare ancora di più la musica dei Madredeus bisogna scoprire il fascino del Portogallo, terra antica ai confini del mondo di un tempo, ultimo baluardo del vecchio continente. Fermarsi sulla costa frastagliata a guardare ed ascoltare le fredde acque dello sconfinato Oceano aiuta a capire il mondo dei Madredeus, un Oceano che racchiude misteri e confidenze, sensazioni di gioie e di dolori, moti dell&146;anima che la calda voce di Teresa ricreano ad ogni ascolto. I Madredeus sono i fedeli custodi di un modo di cantare, la saudade, movimento culturale di inizio secolo (l&146;esponente più noto è Pessoa) che rappresenta anche una filosofia di vita: la tristezza dell&146;anima che però è vissuta allegramente e ti aiuta a sopportare il dolore dell&146;amore. Un&146;illusione che è stata musa ispiratrice per le canzoni della compagine lusitana. E Teresa è l&146;ereditiera canora del tradizionale scialle nero, scialle che caratterizza tutte le grandi interpreti del fado (prima fra tutte Maria Severa ed Amália Rodrigues), scialle simbolo della tristezza, dell&146;umiltà, della povertà, ma anche espressione di un popolo di marinari, ricco di contaminazioni culturali e sonore che proprio nella melodia latina, mediterranea ha sempre espresso i suoi sentimenti e pulsioni. Musica come poesia, musica come sensazione di vita, musica come futuro, questo è il mondo dei Madredeus.
