The Magic of the Zocalo

When I listened that Madredeus came to Mexico City I couldn't avoid to be touched immediately and, that same afternoon to buy tickets to go to the Metropolitan theater in the programmed date. I have to say that I waited with anxiety the day of their concert, knowing that it would be a very special night. And it really was, the atmosphere that surrounded the theater was special, was magic, but when you saw Teresa you cannot avoid to think that you are seeing an angel, her presence and posture completely filled the scene, during the concert already were listened some rumors of her beauty, of her voice... and there were some that could not contain themselves and they shouted their love for her, to which Teresa only smiled sweetly. The applauses of that night were euphoric, full of emotion, I simply could not contain the tears during some songs, - and I was not the only one -.
Two recitals in the Metroplitan were offered, later one more in the Nezahualcoyotl hall, and one more - that nobody expected in the Zocalo of the capital, the concert began one hour late, nevertheless that did not matter to us and to more than 15 000 young people. The center of the city shone wonderfully and mystically, lights and atmosphere obtained effect, and even more when Teresa rose to the stage that we were not hopeless, that we should wait, and this gave us morale to wait for her sweet voice. Finally they appeared and the scrambled atmosphere suddenly became smooth, calm, as if all of us got in communion with that voice, we could forget with her the superficialities, the everyday life, the routine..., only existed " the voice of the angels ".
The admirers of the Portuguese group are very happy for having had the honor of having their presence, of delighting with their music. Much in particular besides to feel really thankful with the group, I'm also thankful with the same life which allowed me to know and to appreciate such wonder in the middle of such difficult times.
Thanks to Madredeus and all those that made possible the arrival of the group in our country.

Cuando escuché que Madredeus venía a la Cd. de México no pude más que emocionarme y de inmediato, esa misma tarde comprar los boletos para ir al teatro Metropolitan en la fecha programada. He de decirles que esperaba con ansia el día de la presentación, sabía que sería una noche muy especial. Y realmente lo fué, el ambiente que envolvía al teatro era especial, era mágico, pero al ver a Teresa no puede uno más que pensar que se está viendo un fantasma angelical, su presencia y porte llenaban por completo el escenario, durante el concierto ya se dejaban oir los rumores de su belleza, de su voz!... y hubo algunos que no pudieron contenerse y gritaban su amor por ella, a lo que Teresa tan sólo sonreía dulcemente. Los aplausos esa noche fueron eufóricos, llenos de emoción, yo simplemente no pude contener las lágrimas en algunas canciones, -y no fuí la única-.
Se ofrecieron dos recitales en el Metroplitan, después uno más en la sala Nezahualcoyotl, y uno más -y que nadie se esperaba- en el Zócalo capitalino, el concierto dió comienzo una hora después de la señalada, sin embargo eso no nos importó a más de 15 000 jóvenes. El centro de la Cuidad lucía maravilloso y místico, las luces y el ambiente lograban el efecto, y más aún cuando Teresa salió para pedirnos que no nos desesperásemos, que aguardaramos, esto nos dió más ánimos para esperar su dulce voz. Por fin se presentan y el ambiente revuelto de pronto se tornó suave, tranquilo, como si todos estuvieramos en comunión con esa voz, con ella se logran olvidar las superficialidades, la cotidianidad, la rutina..., sólo existe "la voz de los ángeles".
Los admiradores del grupo portugués estamos muy agradecidos por honrarnos con su precencia, por deleitarnos con su música. Muy en lo particular además de sentirme agradecida con el grupo, también con la vida misma por permitirme conocer y apreciar tal maravilla en medio de tiempos tan difíciles.
Gracias a Madredeus y a todos los que hicieron posible la llegada del grupo a nuestro país.
